Shoplifting Prevention Program in Kelowna.

Self-Reflecting, not re-Offending.

The Shoplifting Prevention Program is an alternative justice intervention for adults who have shoplifted and accepted responsibility. The program focuses on education and self-reflection rather than punishment, helping participants understand their behaviour and develop strategies to change it.

Understanding and changing behaviour.

The John Howard Society of Okanagan & Kootenay has delivered the Shoplifting Prevention Program since 2010. The program is an education-based response that addresses behaviour in a way that a fine or charge alone does not. Participants learn about themselves, develop practical skills, and leave with tools they can use. The goal is not just to resolve an incident but to prevent future ones.Referrals are accepted from the Central Okanagan RCMP and Crown Counsel.
