Home Share in the Okanagan.
Building independence, together.
The Home Share program matches adults with developmental disabilities with care providers who share their home and provide ongoing, individualized support. The arrangement offers a balance of independence and assistance, with the flexibility to adapt as needs change over time.
Living with support.

Home Share is a residential option where an adult with a developmental disability lives with a care provider in a shared home. The home may be owned, rented, or leased by either the provider or the person receiving support. The provider offers daily assistance tailored to the individual, and the relationship often lasts for years.
The model is flexible. Support can increase or decrease as circumstances change. The person receiving services has input into choosing their provider and the home environment. This is not institutional care; it is shared living with someone who has made a commitment to providing ongoing support.
The John Howard Society of Okanagan & Kootenay coordinates Home Share arrangements across the Okanagan for adults funded by Community Living BC. Our Home Share Coordinator assists applicants through the screening and matching process.
